Why Are Protein Bars So Popular?
“Protein bars have become a popular supplement taken by both the body building community and athletic crowds in the last few years” (Thomas Wise).
Happy Halloween weekend everyone! Now, all of you are probably getting more excited for the candy then the kids are; but remember candy = calories! How about replacing that chocolate bar with a protein chocolate bar? They can fulfill that sweet tooth and give you excellent nutrients!
“Protein bars prove to be a nutritional supplement. They offer a low carbohydrate boost to the body that is paired with high protein content. Athletes love to eat them after heavy duty workouts in an effort to help their bodies increase muscle mass. Besides this, the protein content in protein bars is supposed to help a person meet his or her recommended daily allowance for protein. The USDA sets this minimal amount at fifty grams per day. Some people take them for this nutritional reason” (Thomas Wise).
Protein bars are excellent snacks or meal replacements if you are too busy to take a break and eat. They are also great ways to curb that sweet tooth. Again moderation is key, they are healthier than most sweets however they do have a high calorie count. Some even include a significant amount of sugar. Remember when picking out protein bars, be aware of the ingredient and fat counts!
