“Things To Remove From Your Diet Today” (Kari Farmer). Just because the foods your eating have a low calorie or a low fat content doesn’t meant that they are healthier for you! People are constantly being mislead by labels that say LOW FAT, or NO FAT and substituting these products from the natural foods they once ate. WRONG IDEA! You are eventually going to get yourself sick from all of the chemicals that are put into these processed foods. Kari’s article gives us five main ingredients that should be removed entirely from our diets.

“Aspartame is made from three components: 50% phenylalanine (a neurotoxin), 40% aspartic acid and 10% methanol (wood alcohol). When ingested, these substances break down into formaldehyde (an embalming fluid)…high fructose corn syrup is anything but natural. It is a synthetic substance that tricks the body into always feeling hungry…food additives such as dyes, colorants, preservatives, stabilizers and thickeners have been linked to attention deficit hyperactivity disorder in children and adults. MSG or monosodium glutamate, can cause severe allergic reaction in sensitive people such as, headaches, chest tightness and burning skin.

Preservatives BHT and BHA have been linked to cancer and are commonly found in breakfast cereals. Sulfates, commonly found in dried fruits, wine, jams, hard candies and gelatin have been known to cause severe allergic reaction in asthmatics. If you suffer from asthma, be on the lookout for foods containing this additive as it could worsen the condition…Here’s the scary thing about margarine it is only 1 molecule away from plastic (Eek! How scary is that! I had to italicize this!)…and meat and Dairy Products Made with Artificial Hormones and Antibiotics” (Kari Farmer).

START READING LABELS PEOPLE! IF YOU AREN’T FAMILIAR WITH THE THE FIRST THREE INGREDIENTS  DON’T BUY IT! EVEN IF IT CONTAINS A LESSER FAT CONTENT THEN THE NATURALLY PRODUCED FOODS!

Are You Willing To Take The Plunge?

“There comes a time in life when you have to jump in at the deep end and hope for the best” (Roseanna Leaton).

It’s a lovely Wednesday morning, and I am currently over looking the mountains of Northern California. I recently packed up my things and moved here on a whim; and I couldn’t be happier. Sometimes like Roseanna says, you need to take that leap of faith, and hope for the best. Sometimes it’s regretful, sometimes its rewarding but the fact that you have the courage to take risks is praised among those who are too fearful of doing it.

“By taking that enormous plunge, you bypass much of the decision making process which other people would be tied up with; the “Will I? Won’t I? Should I?” Etc. types of thoughts which distract your focus, muddy the waters and dissipate your energy. There’s no time or energy wasted on such things when you just leap in. Once there, your survival instinct comes to your rescue. It’s sink or swim time. Where there is a will there is a way, and your survival instinct is very strong” (Roseanna Leaton).

I’m not saying to put yourself in danger, specifically health and financial danger; but try to do something out of the norm today. Get a pumpkin spice latte instead of a vanilla latte; eat that healthy salad instead of the burger, go to the gym, call an old friend, propose some new ideas to your employer’s; hey you never know where life could take you!

Be happy, stay motivated, and don’t give up! Life is all about risks; just be smart!

Feeling stressed out everyday from situations that can be fixed is no way to live life. Do something about it, don’t ignore it! The worst thing in the world is if you ignore or hide your feelings. Make the best out of your workplace! For most, your at work more than you are at home!

Relax, De-stress, take it day by day. Life is what you make of it!

Happy Monday everyone! Some news on my behalf, I recently joined the world of skype; and now I can successfully say I am an addict. I love the whole idea of speaking and seeing friends and family from across the world. What attracted me to Shanon’s article was the whole concept of dating and socializing on Webcam chat? What an interesting concept to review!

“Web-cam chatting in chat rooms and even in social networking sites sure does beat the traditional chatting as in typing. Now you don’t have to type in sentences the other person might have difficulty understanding. It’s easier to get thoughts and such to the other side now with web-cam chat because then you can just speak it out to the other much like you do in person” (Shannon Foster).

In contrasting opinions; I do and will always be the traditional girl who enjoys dating, and meeting the person face to face. Webcam chat is a great idea for those who are a bit on the shyer side, but who wouldn’t want to be treated to dinner and a movie?? Also Shannon brings up the social aspect of Webcam chatting, that is a great way to meet people around the world, but please be careful!

BBQ chicken is about personal taste and there are a lot of recipes for it because it is a flexible dish” (Donna Hernandez).

Donna also provides us with a great recipe to try on our own. Another important tip is the fact that barbecued food isn’t always unhealthy; especially if you make it yourselves! You can be in control of the ingredients.
